Parent and citizens association

Join our community and make a difference

Parent and citizens associations (P&C) are school based organisations consisting of parents, teachers and community members. New South Wales P&C associations raise over $54 million for schools each year, providing a vital income stream for the education of our children.

Our P&C

The philosophy of our P&C is based on a family/school partnership to education. We are an inclusive, friendly organisation aiming to create a positive education environment for our children - we are constantly working towards the welfare of our students.

Our school benefits from parental and community involvement. This involvement enriches our students school experiences and provides funding for additional student and school resources.

We want your voice heard and joining the P&C is a great place to start. We need your help and contribution to continue the great tradition of the Point Clare P&C. Whatever your skills, whatever time you can give you'll be creating a better education future for our kids.

Meetings

We meet in the Point Clare Public School staff room at 7:30pm, the second Wednesday of every month during school term. See the P&C 2018 meeting schedule (DOCX 13.8KB) for information on the next P&C meeting at Point Clare Public School. These meetings are your opportunity to see how our P&C works, meet your P&C representatives, hear the principal's monthly report, and ask questions you may have of both the P&C and the school. You do not have to be a P&C member to attend meetings.

Membership

Membership is open to parents and carers of children attending Point Clare Public School, as well as residents of our area. For one dollar ($1) annual membership entitles you to nominate for positions on the executive and sub-committees, voting rights and access to meeting agendas and minutes. View the P&C membership form (DOCX 97.6KB) to join committee at Point Clare Public School and the roles and responsibles currently occupied by members of the P&C for 2018-2019 (DOCX 12KB).

Staying in touch

The P&C is focusing on providing more flexible and accessible ways to communicate and interact with the school community. Regular updates and reminders of P&C events, activities, a place to make comments and ask questions are avaliable via the Public School P&C membership form, via email at secretary@pointclarepandc.com, the P&C's Facebook page and Point Clare Public School's weekly newsletter.

Join the executive and sub-committees

The executive and sub-committees facilitate the management and organisation of all P&C business and events. Meetings are held to discuss and implement ideas and address related management issues. Positions are elected at each annual general meeting in May every year. Only current financial members are entitled to nominate for positions and vote. Volunteering

Our P&C needs and relies on volunteers. Everyone is welcome to volunteer, parents, aunts, uncles, grandparents, neighbours and local residents. Any help you give is greatly appreciated. People volunteer on a weekly or monthly basis, per term or per event. Even half an hour here or there makes a difference. The P&C respects that the time you say you are available, is the time you are available. Volunteers will spend their time in the canteen, cooking and serving at the barbeque stand on special occassions, wraping Easter and Christmas raffle hampers, assisting with cake stalls or face painting at events, tradie skills at working bees or on one-off occassions and handing out promotional flyers at events to name a few.

Some of the areas you can volunteer include:

  • The canteen (mums, dads, aunties and grandparents are welcome).
  • Cooking or serving on the barbeque stand.
  • Wrapping hampers for Easter and Christmas raffles.
  • Assisting on a cake stall.
  • Face painting at events.
  • Tradie skills at working bees or other one-off requirements.
  • Handing out promotional flyers at events.

Fundraising

Point Clare Public School's P&C fundraising sub-committee contributes thousands of dollars each year to projects for our school community.

The fundraising committee work tirelessly throughout the year. Mother's and father's day stalls, entertainment book sales, Easter and Christmas raffles, catering for the school musical and presentation days as well as stalls on carols night were just some of the events carried out by the team.

Of course, none of those achievements would be possible without your support and the support of the many local businesses who donate prizes for our fundraising initiatives.

The fundraising sub-committee meets regularly throughout the year and always needs new volunteers.

Contributions

The P&C contributes in many ways including providing services such as the canteen and uniform shop and raising financial support for special projects. For more details to get involved view the Point Clare Public School P&C Association Volunteer form (DOCX 110KB).
