Premier's Reading Challenge

Premier's Reading Challenge

Our school supports the Premier’s Reading Challenge (PRC). Each year, students are encouraged to read a variety of books from the PRC booklist, with the aim of supporting students to develop a love of reading for leisure and pleasure and to enable students to experience quality literature. The PRC is not a competition but a challenge to each student to read more and to read more widely.

At PCPS, Kindergarten students complete the PRC at school with the assistance of their class teacher and the Teacher Librarian. The books read are submitted online by the Teacher Librarian and all students will receive a certificate. Students in stage 1, 2 and 3 are encouraged to undertake the PRC independently, allowing them to choose and enjoy books that interest them.

PRC books are easy to find in our school library. Use Oliver (our school library catalogue) and search ‘Premier's Reading Challenge’ and the challenge books in the library will be displayed. Students can also browse the shelves and the PRC books are identified by a sticker on the books spine. Visit the PRC student website to search the entire list of PRC books.

Students are required to login to add books read to the PRC and will use their Department of Education username and password.

Ask Mrs McCabe, our Teacher Librarian for assistance with the PRC or visit the PRC website for full details of the challenge, including the rules and the number of books students are required to read.
